Motoring Offences: Our Fees

This page sets out our fees for summary motoring offences dealt with in the Magistrates' Court, in line with the Solicitors Regulation Authority's price transparency requirements.

This page covers summary offences only. More serious or contested cases heard in the Crown Court are quoted individually, please get in touch to discuss.

Our fees

Fixed fee bands

Single Magistrates' Court hearing

Fixed fee, straightforward guilty plea or single-issue hearing

£600 – £1,200

Contested trial

Preparation and advocacy for a contested Magistrates' Court trial

£1,500 – £3,500

Totting up / exceptional hardship

Representations to avoid disqualification under the totting up procedure

£750 – £1,500

All fees quoted include VAT at the current rate. The exact fee will depend on the complexity of your case and will always be agreed and confirmed in writing before we begin work.

Reviewing the evidence against you, including the prosecution case

Advice on plea and likely outcome

Preparation of your defence or mitigation

Attendance and representation at all Magistrates’ Court hearings

Advice on next steps and any right of appeal

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees or fees for expert reports. Where these apply to your case, we will identify them separately and obtain your agreement before they are incurred.

Key stages and timescales

Day 1

Initial consultation, case assessment and confirmation of fees.

Weeks 1–2

Reviewing the prosecution evidence and advising on plea.

Weeks 2–6

Preparing your defence or mitigation ahead of the hearing.

Hearing day

Representation at the Magistrates' Court, followed by advice on the outcome.

Timescales depend on the Court's listing and the nature of your case. Most summary motoring matters are concluded within one to three hearings.
